Crowthorne Musical Players (CMP) is a musical amateur dramatics society who
perform in the Crowthorne and Bracknell area. CMP was formed by members of the
Parish Church in 1950. Since that time CMP has performed many musical shows and
concerts.
Nowadays, we generally produce one large show and one to two smaller shows every
year. The large show is always based on one of the Broadway / West End hit
musicals and performed in Bracknell's Wilde Theatre. The smaller shows are fund
raising concerts performed in local halls, usually made up of a medley of musical
numbers around a common theme.
We pride ourselves in being a very friendly society and, besides the main shows, organise a variety of social and fund-raising activities. In the last year we have held a Race Night, a Talent Night, a Quiz Night and a Karaoke Night, all of which were enjoyable and successful, and we plan to make them annual events.
One of the most common things we hear people say is, "I've always wanted to have
a go at acting but have never had the nerve to actually go on stage.". In fact,
most of our members had thoughts like that before they got involved (and then got
hooked) - so now's your big chance! We are always pleased to welcome new members,
especially male singers. If the thought of treading the boards is still, perhaps,
a little too daunting, then we are also delighted to meet volunteers who would
like to join the backstage crew or help out front-of-house, or perhaps you could
support us by becoming a Vice President.
We normally meet for rehearsals on Thursday nights at
Crowthorne Parish Hall on Heath Hill Road, with additional
rehearsals for principals on Monday nights as required. Why not come along to see
us, or contact us.
Note that our new contact number for all Show Tickets and Enquiries is 08707 708871 (calls charged at national rate)
